Long Live Kanye West

I never thought that I would ever like hiphop music but I must say, Pandora has really helped me to learn about what I like. It's a good thing too because I was going to have to move to MARS if I wanted to avoid hiphop. It's ubiquitous. I especially love when it's used in Remix with the old classic standbys like that wonderful Nina Simone remix.

I just typed in Kanye West to create a Station and have been dancing in my chair all morning. My twin sister put together a terrific dance music cd that had a great Kanye West song, "American Boy" and that was it. I was totally turned on to him. I did put a thumbs down on some songs that had too much cursing on them. Don't care to listen to anything I wouldn't want my grandchildren to hear. Anything with bad English gets a thumbs down from me too. Like Fiasco's singing about "what you brung to" - no excuse for proliferating bad grammer.

I remembered that a few years ago, I went to The Mission Cultural Center for a Dia de los Muertos exhibit and in the section that people can add comments and prayers and wishes to, a 13 yr. old girl had added a petition to Kanye West. "Long Live Kanye West and may he have a new album come out every year of my life." I had never heard of him till then.

It's not good to get too much away from the pulse of the young people's music. Love of music is all good!
